Dental Hygiene/Exams
Caring Dental’s top priority is to help you take care of your smile. We believe it is always better to prevent serious oral health problems from developing than to fix them after they have already appeared.
We encourage you to visit our office every six months for a routine visit. During that visit, we will inspect your mouth carefully, looking for signs of cavities and gum disease. If we spot anything wrong with your mouth, we will address the issue as quickly as possible. What Happens at a Dental Checkup?
When you visit our office for a dental check-up, there are a few steps we will follow. First, you should expect to be greeted by a friendly smile at the front desk. Our staff is available to help you fill out any paperwork that might be required.
Then, we will call you back to our office. We will use the latest practices in our field to thoroughly clean your teeth. Our goal is to remove any plaque and tartar that you might have on your teeth. We want to clean the surfaces of your teeth and gums to prevent serious oral health issues from developing.
Our dental hygienist will floss your teeth and check for any signs of cavities, gum disease, or cancer. Then, the dentist will come in and take a closer look. There is a chance that we will also recommend oral X-rays to take a look at what is happening underneath the surface. That way, we can make sure that we do not miss anything.
Once we finish the cleaning and exam, we will discuss the results of your check-up. If there are any issues, we will address them with you at that time, providing a comprehensive plan for how to fix the problem.
What Does the Dentist Check For?
We want to make sure that we do not overlook anything during the exam. Some of the issues that we look for include:
- We will check your mouth, teeth, jaw, and face for any lumps or bumps.
- We will closely examine the gum line to ensure you do not have any signs of periodontal disease.
- We will examine the X-rays carefully to ensure we have not missed anything.
- We will inspect the alignment of your teeth to see if there are any orthodontic concerns.
- We will check your mouth for any signs of oral cancer.
We will also explain what you need to do to take care of your teeth at home.
How To Care for Your Teeth at Home
Once the visit is done, we will explain what you need to do to take care of your teeth at home. You need to brush your teeth twice a day and floss daily. You also need to use a toothpaste that has fluoride in it. If there are extra steps you need to take because of oral health problems or chronic conditions, we will explain to you what has to happen.
We will also recommend that you stay away from tea, coffee, and soda because they can stain your teeth. We know that you want your teeth to look beautiful and white, so we recommend that you avoid certain products. Of course, we recommend avoiding tobacco products, as they could cause oral cancer.
